Dorlins’ journey began in 1958 under the name of Retail Hosiery Co. Ltd Drapers located at 48 South Road, Waterloo. Since that beginning, the shop has had many changes, including being a Florist in 1966. It then changed it’s name to Mac’s Flower Basket Florist & Dorlins Woollen Drapers in 1968, before moving to Crown Buildings after 1970, where it finally became Dorlins.
Doreen and Linda ran the business until 1976 when it was purchased by Elizabeth Roberts and Sylvia Edwards, who have grown the business into what it is today: a well known haberdashery shop in the Crosby / Waterloo area that caters to everyone’s needs.
In 2016 Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Monique Bell, took over the business with a business partner, Clare Griffiths. They have brought the business into the 21 st century with social media pages, an eBay shop, and even this website!
In 2017 Clare left to have a beautiful baby girl called Chloe, and Sophie Weymouth has taken over her half of the partnership. Sophie has her own textile design company so it goes hand in hand with Dorlins!
